Outside The Box: an app for doing things.
The vision: a means to visualize activities taking place in your local area, with personalized information allowing you to quickly decide if you want to participate, with the ability to share and see others participating, and that incentivizes participation, and has a sense of both relevance and discovery.
The goal: an app that is populated by local information provided by local businesses and organizations, with custom templates that they can complete to give a more complete picture of the event or business, plus data scraped from the web.
The pilot: give businesses the opportunity to add information for each day and make it attractive. Customize for users who want certain consistent things but also want to discover new ones. Link to their schedule. Link to their friends. Provide notice of upcoming events they might be interested in. Organize by custom settings: cost, time of day, type of event, availability, number of attendees they know, etc.
This project needed to provide several things:
- user preferences and feedback
- user legitimacy
- business information portal, easily updatable live
- information vetting by users
- promotional pushing
- sync to calendars, link to purchasing and information sites, and relevant security
- UX must take all this into account and make all steps intuitive
- customization
